druids cannot learn demoralizing roar from the trainer in bloodhoof village

ThalionLv 12 Druid · <Bear Pawse> Oct 27, 2026
the tooltip for demoralizing roar suggests that it it's in feral combat and that the only prerequisite for rank 1 is level 10 [and two sliver.]

when i first got to the trainer, it showed - correctly - in available, but i could not learn it. hitting learn didn't do anything [and didn't subtract money from my character.] past that point, it shows up in "unavailable" and cannot be learned at all.

i /suspect/ though i'm not sure - that there is likely a workaround. if i summon the adventure assistant and ask it to teach me everything i should know, it will likely end up in my spell book. but i am unsure and didn't try this on the off chance that i might be missing something about that specific skill.

---

furthermore: i don't know how borked this is going forward. i seem to recall that i tested in thunder bluff, but would like to test again when next i play just so that i'm sure.

but i also do not know if this is a bug that also affects alliance characters.

[i will make a point of rolling a night elf and set their experience gain real high so i can test it there, too.]

Hi Thalion, thanks for testing it so carefully. It isn't a bug, and you don't need a workaround.

Demoralizing Roar is a bear ability, so the trainer only teaches it once you know Bear Form. Bear Form comes from the druid quests at level 10, and your druid is on the last one: Body and Heart. Use the Cenarion Lunardust on the Moonkin Stone between Mulgore and the Barrens to bring out Lunaclaw, defeat it, then go back to Turak Runetotem in Thunder Bluff. He teaches you Bear Form, and the trainer will then teach you Demoralizing Roar.

It's the same for Alliance druids, with the same quest from Darnassus, so your night elf will meet it there too.

yes. lol.

after my session today, i planned to swing by and say something very like this. i am just an idiot :)

it's been a LONG time since i've played the game in this way where everything gets handed out piecemeal, so i'd forgotten that the steps you outlined were, in fact, what i needed to do. it occurred to me after beating lunaclaw and while i was on the wind rider that i should actually check to see, afterwards, if i could get demoralizing roar and lo and behold, it worked.

thank you for leaving the information here for others to find, though. much appreciated.

[i still feel like something of an idiot, though :)]
